German punks Elm Tree Circle have recently unveiled their new single “Flow” on major digital platforms. The band is now here to talk about this new release, as well as their upcoming projects. Check out the full interview below!
Hello Elm Tree Circle. For those who are not familiar with your band, could you please introduce yourselves, as well as your roles in the band?
We are a trio from Iserlohn, Germany. Nic play guitar and sings, Henne plays the lead guitar and Jo plays the drums. We all have one thing in common. We all played both guitar and drums in bands before and we all write songs on top of that. That’s why we have some interesting collaborations and ideas for our songwriting where everyone gets to throw in ideas for multiple instruments. Although the bands home is in an old factory builing called the rad room rehearsal studios in Iserlohn, we all live in other cities like Dortmund and Vancouver (at the moment).
For those who have never heard your songs, how would you describe your overall sound?
Elm Tree Circle plays music that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside. Inspired by 90s and early 2000s punk rock as well as some of the modern pop punk bands like Pup or Tiny Moving Parts. Our debut album was a break-up cure but our next album will deal with more recent issues like FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out).
You recently unveiled your new single, titled “Flow”. What’s the story behind this song?
Flow is about becoming the truest version of yourself. It’s about listening to your inner voice and stop action upon the expectations of people around you.
What would you say has been the biggest highlight of your band’s career so far?
After sharing the stage with bands we have looked up to (The Ataris, Boston Manor, Such Gold, Pears and many more). It still feels like another milestone everytime we get on stage and see people being touched by our songs. Some of the best tours we had were with Death By Shotgun in the UK as well as Departures in Germany and Earl Grey in Eastern Europe.
What else can we expect from Elm Tree Circle in the upcoming months?
There will be plenty more singles to be expected. Keep you eyes and ears open. Make sure to stay in touch through Instagram, Facebook and Spotify to be sure you wont miss out on the other tracks that we put a lot of love into.
Thanks for your time! Thanks for this lovely interview and hope to speak soon again!
