I’ve been following these guys for a little while now and I’m really happy to be able to share this new interview with the band Air Drawn Dagger. Learn more about their new double-release as well as their upcoming plans for the new decade below!

Hello, Air Drawn Dagger! Thanks for taking time to answer a couple of questions for us. Would you mind introducing your band to our readers?

Sure, Maisie – vocals / Lewis – guitars, Ross – drums.

What’s the story behind your band’s name?

The name Air Drawn Dagger comes from Macbeth as it is a “characterization of an emotional outburst”. That felt like a good way to describe what we do.

You’re recently unveiled a double release, “Tell Me What You’re Scared Of // Sad Girls Club”. Would you mind introducing these two songs to our readers?

‘Tell Me What You’re Scared Of’ is about embracing fears and challenges. It’s about wallowing in every anxiety until it betters you or breaks you.

‘Sad Girls Club’ is about finding your tribe. It’s the antidote to “I’m not like other girls” it’s the moment when you realize you’re so much like other girls and it’s the best thing ever. It’s also just about finding people you relate to and the strength of a support network. It’s having your mates back and knowing they have yours.

How’s your usual writing process and where do you find your inspiration?

We write in a few different ways. Myself and Lewis will often start a song acoustically and work on the lyrics and the ‘skeleton’ of the track before we turn it into a full band track with Ross. Sometimes we start programming synths or electronic elements first and go from there. It’s nice to keep things different and see how it affects the end result.

What can we expect from Air Drawn Dagger in 2020?

We have a super busy year ahead but are in that frustrating period where we are waiting for the I’s to be dotted and T’s to be crossed before the announcements come ‘a-rollin’. What we can say is that new music, tours and videos are on the way…

The last words are for you. If you have a message to convey, here’s your chance!

We are a band that likes to shed light on the darker side of people. Our lyrical themes might cover the macabre, but our shows are a contrast and a safe space where people can not only be who they are but celebrate it! We are incredibly lucky to be building an organic fan base that are truly dedicated to what we do. We invite you to join in the fun and see what you’re missing out on.
