Meet the ska rock band LMR and learn more about their upcoming record!

Warren, from the Canadian punk rock band Hangtime, took some time to answer a couple of questions for us. Learn more about the band’s new EP, “Destroy!”, as well as the story behind their artwork! Check out the full interview below.

Hello Hangtime, thanks for your time. Would it be please possible to introduce your band to our readers, as well as your roles in it?

Hello WHTYB Press, nice to meet you!!

Rick – Vocals/Guitar Enzo– Drums Coco – Bass Warren – Vocals/Guitar (Me)

With a worldwide pandemic going on, how have you handled the management of your band over the past few months?

Honestly, we’ve actually been busier than we’ve ever been.  Our EP “DESTROY!” was completed at the end of March, one week before the studio was locked down… very lucky! We then decided to slowly release all of the songs from the EP over the summer instead of playing shows and touring.

It seemed like most bands were choosing to wait for Covid-19 to end before doing anything new. Instead, we decided to do the opposite and release all of our new music and several videos throughout the summer.

You’ve released a few weeks ago your new EP, “Destroy!”. How long have you worked on this EP and where did you find your main inspiration?

All of the songs on DESTROY! were written in the fall of 2019. We entered Howl Studio in Oakville Canada in Feb and spent 2 months on and off completing it. We once again had Mike Indovina record, mix and master it. Most of our music’s inspiration comes from personal experiences and from simply pushing ourselves hard to write and record the best songs we can. .

Any funny story to share from your recording or writing sessions?

There was this one time at Bandcamp… (laughs)

Who created the artwork and what’s the story behind it?

Rick Burns in the band does all of our current cover art. He is a super talented artist with a cool, bizarre imagination.

The story of the art on DESTROY! is a continuation of our previous EP Invasion. Invasion depicts the band being attacked, probed and violated by visiting aliens. On DESTROY!, we give those same aliens a touch of revenge by playing a show in a city they now occupy. The show was such a success that the city and some of the aliens were DESTROYED! by our performance!! HAHA!! Although, some of the survivors appear to be still chasing us!! Hmmmmm, next EP?

Hangtime - Artwork

I’m sure you are, like a lot of people, missing live shows. Do you already have some dates planned for the end of the year or 2021?

Yes, we have POUZZA FEST in Montreal (rescheduled) in May 2021 and a few other shows (Fingers Crossed). We were hoping to have small tours this year in Germany and Japan, hopefully we can still make that happen in the near future.

If you had to create a 5-song playlist that best represents your band, what songs would you choose and why?

Personally, I would choose these 5, no reason in particular. I suppose because they all feel very strong to me. Our songwriting and production have been improving with every release and these 5 are total standouts.

1. Too Many Days
2. When We Were Young
3. One Nine Nine Five
4. A Thousand Years Ago
5. Start All Over

The last words are for you. If you have a message to convey or any other project in the making, here’s your chance to talk about it!

No other projects. Hangtime is our project, Hangtime is our band. THANKS WHTYB Press! We hope to meet you one day!

Thanks for your time!
