“Brother” is the first single from Melisandre’s Beaver since the release of their debut album released back in 2018.
Having had James Nesbitt join the band on drums in December 18th, the band took some time off to write and record, and begin what they are calling Beaver 2.0. Brother is just the start.
The song itself is intended as a simple, fun melodic punk song about the ridiculous (and sometimes controversial) man that is Hulk Hogan. At his best and at his prime he was pure showmanship and entertainment. To the band members he was an escape to another world, like a soap opera in the ring, so they decided to write a song about him as our come back single.
The song lyrics are full of easter eggs to other wrestlers and so should appeal to those who know a little bit more about the subject, whilst the chorus is a simple, melodic hook which should get the casual listener engaged. The line itself, “What ya gonna do, Brother?” was a catchphrase of his but the band liked how accessible it was as a phrase on its own.
The song itself was recorded at Magpie Studios in Ashford, produced and mixed by Charlie Creese and mastered by Pete Maher.
