Hey guys! Today, we’re introducing you the the Italian band Out in the Rain. The guys took some time to talk about their 2019 plans. Check out what they had to say below!
Hello, Out in The Rain! Thanks for your time! Would you mind introducing your band to our readers?
Hello, everybody! We are five boys from northern Italy who play music together.
Basically, Out In The Rain was formed in early 2018 because we had to change some things about our previous band, mainly the name. And also because we needed to choose from getting stuck on playing covers or moving on to write our own songs (something more demanding but way more satisfying). And of course, we picked the second option.
We always define ourselves as “easycore”, but actually it’s hard to tell precisely what genre we play, because we have very similar but also very different music tastes. And so we try to sum these various ideas up in our songs. Anyway, our major influences are bands like Sum 41, A Day To Remember, Neck Deep and Trophy Eyes.
How would you describe the Italian pop-punk scene, from your point of view?
Hard question. From our point of view, it is very difficult for underground bands to have the opportunity to emerge, even at a local level.
You recently unveiled your debut EP “Nothing Changes Except What Has To”. Would you mind introducing this release to our readers?
NCEWHT is our debut EP and it means a lot to us. It was totally self-produced (except for the mastering part) and consequently, it took us more time than we expected – about a year – to finish it. But it was worth it in the end.
If you had to pick one song on this EP, which one would it be and why?
It would be hard to pick only one song on NCEWHT because, as we said before, we have different music tastes. So, we have chosen one song each:
Pie: ‘Shit Happens’, because the lyrics came out from my head in a flash.
Raffa: ‘Di*k Jockey’, because its’s a cold storm.
Luchi: ‘Nails’, because it’s catchy and you can’t get it out of your head.
Gianfri: ‘Shit Happens’, because it’s fast and violent and perfectly reflects the different aspects of our music style.
Samu: ‘Feeling Grey’, because it’s powerful as fuck!
How would you describe the writing process you have within the band?
Sometimes, songs can come out altogether; but it’s not always that simple. Generally, we start from a riff we like: we discuss, we improvise in the moment, we gather the ideas and then, we choose a hypothetical structure of the song. Afterwards, we write some lyrics and we record a demo. However, changes often take place when we think the song is finished.
Any funny story to share from your recording sessions?
On the third day of drums recording session, we started insulting each other because we were stressed out and literally going insane. And the situation got even crazier when we started feeling sorry for each other, even though we could not stop dumping on each other!
Would you mind sharing the rest of your plans for 2019?
In January, we released NCEWHT and it was the first goal of the year. Now, we hope to manage to have some gigs. In the meantime, we keep writing new stuff. Maybe we’ll release a new EP – or an LP, who knows? Anyway, we’re just getting started.
