Familiar Things is a five-piece pop punk/alternative rock band from Philadelphia and the surrounding areas of suburban Pennsylvania and South Jersey.
The band’s songwriting style is influenced by the pop punk wave of the early to mid 2000s, including bands like The Starting Line, Yellowcard, and Mayday Parade, while including more non-traditional pop punk instrumentation and arrangements, including piano, acoustic guitar, and three-part vocal harmonies. And this is something you’ll definitely notice when you’ll hit “play” on their debut EP “Fade Into the Scenery”.
This EP is very nostalgic. You can indeed see yourself a dozen years ago listening to your favorite pop-punk bands, which is an amazing feeling. If I had to highlight one song on this EP, it’d definitely be “Meant a Lot”. This song indeed reminded me of my favorite bands, such as All Time Low. Not to mention the instrumental parts that are really catchy and will make you shake your head to the beat of this track! Well done, Familiar Things!
