Boston-based band Birdwatching releases EP Night Physics

Birdwatching is a pop-punk trio from Boston, MA. Their most recent EP, Night Physics, is a melodious and driving force of four tracks.

Birdwatching

The vocals from bassist Andrea and guitarist Alex fit each track whether they are singing solo or in harmony. The instrumentals are also great, especially the drumming of James which is tight, driving, and integral to the feeling of each of the four songs.

The choruses are catchy but not formulaic, which is a testament to the songwriting capabilities of each member in the group. You do catch hints of various artists within the Night Physics EP, but nothing seems derivative.

The one band that Birdwatching reminds me of is another Boston band, the criminally underrated Avoid One Thing. The same passion and pure pop-punk drive found in the melodies and instrumentals found in the band that released classics like “Lean on Sheena” can be found in Birdwatching’s music (at least in my opinion).

If you are looking for a fresh sound that blends punk and pop in a great way, you can’t do wrong by giving this EP a chance!
